Travel That Supports Local Growth

At Sasa Travel, we believe travel should do more than create beautiful memories. It should also leave something useful behind for the people and places that make each journey possible.

Across the regions our guests travel through, some of the most meaningful work is happening inside small, locally owned businesses. These are the everyday businesses that keep communities moving, create jobs, preserve skills, and give people a reason to build their future close to home.

That is why a percentage of every Sasa Travel journey goes directly toward supporting small businesses in the areas we operate. Not through vague promises, but through practical support that business owners actually need.

This could mean helping a hand-sewing business purchase better machines, fabric, or materials so they can take on more orders and train more people. It could mean supporting artisans who make woven baskets, mats, homeware, or handmade goods by helping them access raw materials, improve packaging, or reach new customers.

It could mean backing local food vendors with cooking equipment, refrigeration, inventory, or a cleaner, safer setup that allows them to serve more people. In some communities, it may mean supporting a small water supply business with tanks, filters, pumps, or delivery equipment. In others, it may mean helping solar kiosks access panels, batteries, charging stations, or basic infrastructure that brings light, power, and opportunity closer to people.

The idea is simple: support should be tangible.

We do not want impact to be something we only talk about. We want it to be something a business owner can point to and say, “This helped us grow.”

Before offering support, we listen. We collect information directly from local businesses to understand what they need most — whether that is capital, inventory, equipment, machines, tools, or training. From there, we identify where a small investment can create the most practical and lasting value.

We also look at how each business contributes to employment in the region. Our goal is to support businesses that are not only helping one person survive, but creating opportunities for others too — especially young people, women, makers, vendors, and entrepreneurs with the skills and ambition to grow.

For our guests, this creates a deeper way to experience a place.

Where appropriate, guests can choose to visit some of the businesses supported through their journey. They might meet women behind a sewing cooperative, visit a weaving group, stop by a local food vendor, learn how a solar kiosk serves the surrounding community, or see how a small water business is solving a real local need.

These visits are not staged performances. They are real encounters with people building something meaningful.

Because Africa is not only its landscapes, wildlife, and beautiful lodges. It is also the people making things by hand, feeding their neighborhoods, solving everyday problems, creating jobs, and carrying culture forward through work.

At Sasa Travel, we want our journeys to honor that.

When you travel with us, you are not just passing through a destination. You are helping support the local businesses that make these places vibrant, resilient, and full of possibility.
